What is it and what do we use it for?
We love our Keiser Functional Trainer! Rehabilitation, Strength Training, Resistance …
The Keiser Functional Trainer can be used for all areas of the body – we can set up easily for arm and shoulder strengthening and also for hip and knee work – it’s just easy to use and feels so good.
It’s a different way to perform resistance (strength) training and we think better than cable pulleys and weight machines. Why?
The KFT uses pneumatic resistance, compressed air – a pure from of resistance. The advantages over other machines are …
➡ You feel a much smoother and controlled movement
➡ Movement is not governed by inertia or momentum
➡ Muscles are worked through the whole range of movement and all muscle fibre types
➡ Significantly lower forces on the joints, ligaments and tendons
➡ We can change the amount of resistance at a simple press of a button, starting from as low as 1kg.
➡ You can use our machine even if you think you are very weak or more elderly, it is extremely versatile. The machine does not limit anyone’s capability, it is engineered to enhance everyone’s performance.
➡ Concentric, eccentric and isometric moves can all be performed. We can measure your peak power, great for targeting improvement in your rehab programme.
➡ You can work with speed and force – say you are trying to return to golf or tennis after injury – we can set up exercises that mimic the actions needed and gradually wind you up to be putting the speed and force that you will need to return to play.
